BTL Mini Camp Presented by Beautiful Day/Jubilee a Success
Tuesday, April 30, 2013 | Tony A. Stewart

BEYOND THE LOCKER teamed up w/Jubilee Christian Church and Beautiful Day Project to present an "I Got Skills" Mini Camp at Mayne Elementary School in the Alviso area of San Jose, CA.  There were nearly 300 participants in this camp that included youth from the Alviso Community, students from Robertson High School in Fremont, Jubilee Christian Center and volunteers from all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

The day was hosted by Founder of BTL, former NFL Tight End Tony Stewart.  Former and current Oakland Raiders Isaiah Ekejiuba, Jarrod Cooper, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Chimdi Checkwa were on hand to support.  Former San Francisco 49er Dana Stubblefield brought his daughter to partake in the Mini Camp.  If you blinked, you probably missed Kevin Craddock of the US Track and Field team racing the youth in the different BTL Life Drills.  Professional strength coach Chris Pearson and TurnPro Sports were on hand to prepare the participants through dynamic warm-ups and coaching.  The day was brought to a close with an awesome performance by
International Recording Artist, Transparent.

Youth of all demographics worked together in team building, self-discovery, physical and mental activities during the Mini Camp.  The theme of the Mini Camp was "G.I.V.E. IT ALL YOU GOT". Empowering youth with the tools of the the G.I.V.E. formula was the focus of the drills and activities. A special thanks to Beautiful Day Project, Jubilee Christian Church, Robertson High School, Mayne Elementary and TeamBTL for all of the hard work and support.  The BTL "I Got Skills" Mini Camp was a success because of the way you served the youth.  Stay tuned for photos and news of upcoming events.

BTL teams up with East County Boys and Girls Club
Friday, April 12, 2013 | Tony A. Stewart

BEYOND THE LOCKER has been hard at work in the city of Pittsburg, CA.  During the last 6 weeks, BTL has teamed up with East County Boys and Girls Club (ECBGC) to present the Training Camp program to the students of Ranchos Medanos Middle School.  Tony Stewart, former 10 year NFL Tight End, trained the students in the "G.I.V.E. IT ALL YOU GOT " life skills series.  The students were challenged in areas of self-awareness, identity, vision and exercise.

During this process students have spent time in the classroom doing a variety of interactive workshops. The workshops included team building and public speaking sessions.  The students have been physically active through completion of the G.I.V.E. Life Drills that are based on the life skills they learned in the program.  The Training Camp will culminate with two final platforms that will highlight what students have learned and their transformation.

In the coming weeks the students will sharpen their skills as they prepare for the first platform at Pittsburgh City Hall.  The students of Rancho Medanos will be presenting their growth to city leaders by showing them what they have learned in order to "G.I.V.E. IT ALL THEY GOT".  The program will end the following week as the students execute a BTL "I Got Skills" Micro Camp for elementary school students at another ECBGC in Pittsburg, CA.

BTL is happy to have created a relationship with ECBGC and its Executive Director, Tamika Bennett.  We look forward to building a relationship that will Engage, Equip and Transform the students of the Pittsburg area.

BEYOND THE LOCKER has grown by leaps and bounds over the past year. Our Regular Season program has helped Robertson Continuation High School achieve the Model School Award as a top 5 Continuation School in the State of California.  We have grown to include more programs in Fremont, East Palo Alto and the Tenderloin District of San Francisco.  In 2013, we will be announcing new programs in our effort to impact more youth and athletes of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Tony Stewart, the President and Founder of BEYOND THE LOCKER, had the good fortune of sharing his vision and experiences of BTL on the Bay Sunday program on CBS 5 Bay Area. Tony talks about how BTL got started, the unique programs that are involved and the vision for BTL.

BEYOND THE LOCKER is expanding its programs to reach youth and athletes all over the Bay Area. We are continually looking for donations and volunteers to help share our vision and motivate the youth through our various programs.  If you are interested in being a BEYOND THE LOCKER teammate, please email us at info@beyondthelocker.com for more information on how you can donate your time or resources.
