BTL 4th Quarter News

Tony A. Stewart - Friday, October 18, 2013

Beyond the Locker started its fourth quarter with a bang.  Team BTL and Robertson High School partnered with Endecia of Palo Alto to present a BTL Mini Camp to youth in the community of East Palo Alto, CA.  The day started with Team BTL Training over 50 Endicia employees from across the country in town for Endicia's national sales conference.  Endicia, a Newell Rubbermaid Company, incorporates community outreach into their company DNA.  It is part of the culture that co-founder Emine Khechfe has helped build into the company that does over 9 billion dollars of postage sales annually.

It was time for the employees of Endicia to get to "work' after being trained in the Life Skills, Life Drills and operations of a BTL Mini Camp.  The "work" turned into empowering over 150 youth from Cesar Chavez Academy in East Palo Alto, CA.  Campus Director Jennifer Koelling and her team from the Citizens Schools after-school program helped coordinate the day.  The collaboration was the first between BTL, Endicia and Cesar Chavez Academy.

Several highlights of the event included new sponsors of the BTL Mini Camp that included Body Armor Super Drink, McDonalds, NFL Play 60 and presenting sponsor Endicia.  Current Raiders Tyler Wilson and Jared Valdheer were on hand to encourage the youth.  A special visit from Team Nike and US Track and Field team member Kevin Craddock punctuated the day's events.

The months of November and December will prove to be just as exciting as BTL looks to hold its first community fundraiser and its first corporate mixer.  Please contact us for more information on how you can help sponsor youth to attend our programs. Stay tuned for more information.
